Slavery and oppression weren’t exactly what the Israelites had in mind when they thought about God’s promise to Abraham. For almost 400 years, God had been silent. Had He forgotten them? Were they being punished? Was there any hope? The story of Exodus is the story of hope; it’s about the journey of redemption and the promise that despite our hardships, God has not abandoned us.
