Through our World Missions Offering (WMO) we celebrate our birthday and all God has done for our church by paying forward our blessings. Each week leading up to our 21st Birthday this post will highlight one of mission the partners receiving a portion of our WMO.
The North American Mission Board – NAMB, promotes church planting, provides humanitarian assistance and trains and encourages pastors.
NAMB’s SEND NETWORK promotes church planting across North America, with special emphasis on 32 SEND Cities where there are few churches relative to the population. Brazos Pointe Fellowship adopted Seattle as our SEND City nearly 10 years ago. The SEND NETWORK also provides funding and support for church planters, like our own Stephen & Jessica Searles. After being assessed and approved by NAMB, the Searles moved to Seattle in July 2020 for Stephen to participate in a church planting residency. They have lived in Seattle at a greatly reduced cost in an apartment owned by NAMB, and will continue to receive financial support from NAMB the next few years.
NAMB’s SEND RELIEF responds to natural disasters with meals and health care assistance, cares for refugees, and operates 16 Ministry Centers across America. Tens of thousands of people have come to faith in Jesus in response to the care they received from NAMB missionaries and church planters.
Through a variety of programs and retreats NAMB also promotes evangelism and leadership by training and encouraging pastors. I am personally involved in that encouraging ministry as NAMB’s South Texas Ambassador. I speak with pastors almost daily, offering to pray for them, answering questions and serving as their liaison to NAMB staff. The most important role I serve, however, is to ask pastors to thank their churches for supporting North American Missions through offerings like our WMO. So on behalf of NAMB, let me thank you, Brazos Pointe, for being one of the Top 5 Baptist churches in South Texas supporting missions through the North American Mission Board.
