Sunday is BEYOND Launch Day

I planned to talk about The Pointe Church in Federal Way, WA this week, our 2022 WMO Special Project, and the 3 month BEYOND Campaign to follow. I’ll save that for this weekend when church planters Stephen & Jessica Searles join us in worship. I have to tell you about last weekend.

While most of you were experiencing what I hear was an impactful and inspiring worship service at Brazos Pointe, I was too… in Galveston.

Kathy and I attended Coastal’s Community Church’s Grand Opening of their new home, a completely renovated 1950’s Buick Dealership building that now houses all their weekend services. It’s located on the corner of 23rd Street and M Ave. You really need to see it.

COASTAL’S NEW BUILDING

FIRST SERVICE IN THE NEW BUILDING

The celebration coincided with their 10th Birthday. They took what had essentially become a junkyard and turned it into a beautiful work of art. It wasn’t lost on the nearly 1000 folks present how that building symbolizes what Jesus has being doing in people’s lives the past ten years at Coastal. They’ve baptized over 450 people.

The memories flooded my heart and seeped out of my eyes as I remembered all the excitement and work that went into Coastal’s launch and saw the fruit of what 10 years of sharing the Gospel on the Island has accomplished. I thought about how our daughter church will have a little sister near Seattle and all the people who will come to faith in Jesus there in the coming years. And just when the worship experience couldn’t’ get any better, Aaron Sanders, their Pastor and former BPF Student Minister, announced Coastal would be sending out their College Pastor to plant a church in May 2023 near the campus of the University of Arizona in Tucson. Then it hit me – we’re (BPF) going to be grandparents. And The Pointe Church will be an Aunt. Now that’s a lot to celebrate!

Let’s do just that this Sunday morning.
